A Memorable Thanksgiving Celebration at La Mère Royaume

On Friday, November 29, the American International Club (AIC) hosted its annual Thanksgiving Dinner, marking the occasion at an exciting new venue—La Mère Royaume restaurant in Geneva. This year, we opted for a fresh approach to this cherished American tradition. Instead of the grandeur of a 5-star hotel, the committee sought a more intimate and inviting atmosphere. La Mère Royaume, renowned for its warm ambiance, exceptional service, and outstanding cuisine, provided the perfect setting. To our delight, the restaurant also crafted an authentic American Thanksgiving feast.

This year’s celebration brought together 80 members and guests to enjoy the festivities. The evening began with a convivial aperitif, offering attendees the chance to mingle, enjoy a drink, and peruse items for the Silent Auction. AIC President Phillip Sundquist formally opened the event, followed by a compelling address from Rasha Hammad, CEO and founder of Youth Underground. Throughout the evening, guests were treated to the enchanting piano melodies of Al Blatter, a beloved local musician and longtime friend of the AIC.

Continuing a tradition of giving back, the AIC dedicated proceeds from the Silent Auction to the Youth Underground Foundation. This impactful organization combats human trafficking by empowering youth through education, awareness, advocacy, and partnerships with relevant organizations. Over the past two years, our efforts have supported their vital mission, and this year’s auction raised significant funds to further their cause.

The Silent Auction featured an impressive array of prizes generously donated by Geneva businesses, including a round-trip ticket from SWISS Airlines (Geneva to New York), contributions from Subway, Webster Geneva, the Caviar House & Prunier, Everness Hotel, Yotel Hotel, and many others. Highlights included handcrafted jewelry by Olena Hand Crafted Jewelry, yoga lessons from Linnann Muhlemann, photography sessions by Emma van Dor Photography, and a bespoke Christmas wreath by At My Table & Events. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the donors whose generosity made this auction such a success.

The event’s success would not have been possible without the dedication of our volunteers. Special thanks go to Ruth Dyson, Flora Tarimo, Peggy Brown, Mary Bernasconi, and AIC President Phillip Sundquist for their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment.

Above all, we thank our 80 members and guests. Your presence and support are the heart of the AIC, and your enthusiasm ensures we can continue celebrating traditions like Thanksgiving while fostering a sense of community.

This year’s Thanksgiving Dinner was a joyous occasion filled with camaraderie, delicious food, and a shared spirit of generosity. We are proud to have shared this cherished tradition with you and look forward to creating more memorable moments together.
