The 17 Goals were adopted by all UN Member States as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Ms. Valovaya holds a Ph. D. of Economic sciences from the State Financial Academy, Moscow. She worked as a reporter to “The Economic Gazette” in Moscow (1983-1989).
She began her career with the Government of the Russian Federation in 1989 and served in various capacities, including as the Third and Second Secretary at the Russian Permanent Mission to the European Union in Brussels (1989-1994) and Deputy Director and subsequently Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Russian Federation (1999-2012).
Subsequently, she was been Minister in charge of integration and macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission before being appointed Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva in 2019 by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.
