Since June 2013, Bertrand Levrat has been the CEO of the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG), the largest university hospital in Switzerland.
As a visionary and collaborative leader, Bertrand has driven complex and large-scale organisational changes enabling the HUG to become one of the leading university hospitals in Europe, internationally recognised for its excellence and pioneering research.
A barrister by training, Bertrand Levrat started his career on humanitarian assignments with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Asia, Africa, and Latin America and was ICRC’s representative at the United Nations in New York.
After returning to his home country, he became Deputy Director of the Geneva state social services before becoming CEO of the “Hospice général” which is in charge of social welfare and asylum seekers in Geneva.
In addition to his current position, he serves as President of the University Medicine Association (UNIMED) and is a board member of several foundations focusing on health and medical research as well as innovative approaches and technologies in healthcare.
