Reflections of a Swiss Tax Attorney

Maître Carmen Kiavila is an entrepreneur and a practicing attorney, holding dual qualifications to practice law in both France (Paris) and Switzerland (Bern).  Her expertise spans multiple jurisdictions, reflecting her deep understanding of complex legal systems.

Before establishing her own law firm in Switzerland in 2019, Maître Kiavila built a solid foundation as an independent consultant specializing in tax and corporate law. Her professional journey includes several years of experience in the financial services sector, where she worked with a Big Four firm and a consultancy in Geneva.  A graduate of the renowned HEC Paris business school, where she specialized in Financial Economics, Maître Kiavila possesses a robust academic background. She also holds degrees from Toulouse Capitole University and Paris-Sorbonne University.  Her professional training and work experience extend across major European cities, including Paris, Bern, Geneva, and Zurich. In addition to her European practice, she is actively expanding her services to cater to clients in African and Middle Eastern markets. 

Maître Kiavila’s legal practice focuses on tax law, encompassing both Swiss domestic and international matters, as well as technology law. Her expertise in technology law includes areas such as data protection, software contracts, and cryptocurrency taxation, making her a sought-after advisor in these rapidly evolving fields.  In addition to her legal practice, Maître Kiavila has contributed to academia as a lecturer in Technology Law at the HEG Fribourg in Switzerland. She is also a recognized international speaker, frequently participating in conferences and events addressing topics at the intersection of technology and tax law.
