The American International Club of Geneva is truly delighted to host our next Speaker's Luncheon featuring Dr. Jakob Schaad, Partner at LINDEMANNLAW, a Zürich-based law firm, who will give a presentation on the important and topical subject of "TRADE, TARIFFS, AND TANTRUMS - America and Europe in the Global Order According to Trump 2.0".
In this speech Dr Jakob Schaad will outline the evolving relationship between America and Europe under the current US administration.
Since the end of World War II, the United States and Europe have been crucial trading and security partners. The United States actively forged this partnership by establishing a rules-based order underpinned by multilateral institutions such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the World Trade Organization, and NATO.
As reliance on multilateral institutions erodes, how will the global order shift? What role do trade, macroeconomic imbalances, and tariffs play in U.S.-European relations? How can we prepare for the New Global Order?
A joint event with the British Swiss Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Jakob Schaad is Partner at LINDEMANNLAW. He advises clients on economic policy, finance, advocacy and corporate strategy.
He holds a doctorate in economics of the University of Zurich with maximum mention. During his long and distinguished career, before joining LINDEMANNLAW, he held several senior positions at the Swiss National Bank and the International Monetary Fund, advised the Swiss Minister of Economic Affairs as Economic Policy Advisor during the global financial and economic crisis, served as the Deputy CEO of the Swiss Banking Association and worked as Deputy Director of the leading Swiss think tank Avenir Suisse.
