UN Secretary-General António Guterres announced on March 5, 2024, the appointment of Ms. Mô Bleeker of Switzerland as Special Adviser on the Responsibility to Protect.


Ms. Bleeker was recently Special Envoy for Dealing with the Past and Preventing Atrocities at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, where she held various positions since 2003.


She also worked in Colombia as Special Envoy for the peace process between the National Liberation Army and the Colombian Government and for the implementation of the peace agreement between the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and the Government.


Ms. Bleeker chaired the Prevention Platform of Global Action against Mass Atrocities, the Transitional Justice and Reconciliation Commission of the Bangsamoro Framework Agreement (Philippines), and chaired the International Advisory Council of the National Commission on Historical Memory in Colombia.


In addition, she has accompanied complex transition processes in Central America, Colombia, the Balkans, South, Southeast and Central Asia, as well as in several African countries. Ms. Bleeker studied anthropology, religious studies, journalism, and social communication.
