 tro announced a major breakthrough in US-Cuban relations, completely revis
 ing more than 50 years of antagonistic relations between the two countries
 . Since the December announcement, there has been an intensified dialogue 
 between the two governments, and it is expected that the two Presidents wi
 ll meet at the April Summit of the Americas in Panama. The new relationshi
 p builds on the reforms introduced by President Castro since he came to po
 wer in February 2008, and on the revisions in US Cuba policy by President 
 Obama since 2009. The stated goal is for the two countries to reestablish 
 formal diplomatic relations for the first time since those ties were broke
