Global trade in crisis: what next?

These are turbulent times for international trade. Multipolarity has led to tensions and frictions amongst major trading partners. With the rise of the Global South, the actors in global trade have changed. At the same time, technology and digitalisation are changing the patterns of trade with e-commerce representing today close to 15% of global merchandise trade.

The World Trade Organisation is  suffering strong headwinds and struggles to reform to adapt to the new circumstances. Can we have a world without global trade rules?

What role for Geneva actors in modernising global trade rules?
