History, Progress, and Freedom Ed Schneider, AIC President This weekend, I reread the history of the United States in order to prepare a video that you will receive on Saturday, July 4th. The saying “history repeats itself” rang loud and clear. The current shift towards populism today is nothing new. The wealth and power created by the industrial revolution in the late 1800s was astounding, as was the stark gap between the ultra-rich such as JP Morgan and the multitude of new immigrants and recently freed slaves living in poverty. The resounding populist backlash at the turn of the last century was of a similar magnitude. Teddy Roosevelt busted up many of the largest US conglomerates during his reign as president. Beth Krasna Gives Inspiring Talk on Swiss Education and Innovation Geneva, February 25, 2020: The American International Club (AIC) hosted an enlightening presentation by Mrs. Beth Krasna on the Swiss education system, creativity, entrepreneurship, and the beneficial outcome of these activities. Mrs. Krasna is the Vice-President of Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology overseeing our country's finest institutes such as ETH Zurich and EPFL, as well as leading Swiss research institutes.

Pascal Grieder, the CEO of Salt, kicked off the AIC’s luncheon series for 2020 as our guest speaker on February 7 at the Métropole Hotel in Geneva. With a wide smile and trendy sneakers, Mr. Grieder spoke with confidence about the company he joined less than 18 months ago and the controversial topic of discussion: the deployment of 5G in Switzerland.

The panel consisted of Mauro Poggia, Conseiller d’Etat in charge of security, employment and health care; and Rodolphe Eurin, CEO of La Tour Medical Group.


Christian Brunier, General Manager, SIG

On November 6, 2019, the AIC welcomed Christian Brunier, General Manager of SIG, to talk about Happiness at Work (in French). SIG was named best Swiss-Romand employer of 2018 by Bilan Magazine, largely due to the dramatic changes Mr. Brunier made to the culture of the company since he took the helm in 2014.


Inaugural AICC Business Networking

Inaugural AICC Business Networking Event a Grand Success Geneva, October 29, 2019: The American International Club (AIC), in conjunction with the Association of International Chambers of Commerce (AICC), hosted its inaugural AICC business networking event featuring WTO Director General Roberto Azevêdo and Conseiller d’Etat Pierre Maudet. The splendid WTO facilities were overflowing with over 400 attendees. The participants consisted of the 22 international chambers of commerce and clubs that make up the AICC, of which the AIC is a founding member.   The AICC was founded earlier this year, and was the brainchild of Claudio Bozzo, the President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce. Claudio is replicating the International Chambers of Commerce model that he participated in New York City. By combining the individual chambers into a united force, the AICC creates larger economies of scale in terms of attendance, …


Geneva Mobility, Anne Hornung-Soukup and Serge Dal Busco, Conseiller d’Etat

For its 773rd luncheon, the AIC welcomed Anne Hornung-Soukup, Chair of the Board of Directors, Geneva Public Transport (tpg), and Serge Dal Busco, Conseiller d’Etat of the Canton of Geneva in charge of infrastructure, to discuss “Geneva Mobility”. Carlo Lamprecht, former Conseiller d’Etat of the Canton of Geneva and honorary AIC Vice-President, eloquently introduced the two speakers before each gave their presentation to a crowd of about 50 people.
